Labret is by far the most beloved lip piercing. The right way of saying the word is ‘La-bret’, and not ‘Luh-bray’. It comes from the Latin ‘labrum’ which is ‘lip’. The ‘-et’ suffix expresses the idea of ‘a thing worn on’. Therefore, the root and suffix combined make the word ‘labret’, i.e. ‘a thing worn on the lip’.
